I am beginning to get uneasy about this electronic entry thing. Two days ago my broker suddenly credited me with over an extra million dollars in equity. Then yesterday the server went down and when it came up it sent me four emails acknowledging large transactions that I had never made. (They were in fact transactions that occurred some months ago.)

In the event of a huge disruption of electronic banking and brokerage services, it might be a long time before one could actually recover what had belonged to one.

It seems to me that a big wad of U. S. savings bonds, as well some gold, might be a good thing to keep in a safe deposit box. Even if the feds wanted to take the gold, no one is going to dare dispossess you of savings bonds.
