In a crisis the President and Vice President should never be in the same place. For Bush to have returned to Washington would have been unthinkable.

Let's assume that after the Pentagon was hit and after the plane went down in Pennsylvania another plane or two came in and took out the White House or the capitol or another portion of the pentagon-----and lets assume that both Bush and Cheney were in there at the time------then what?

We all know that there is a chain of command even if Bush and Cheney had both died; however, to risk losing both simultaneously is not wise.

Another analogy-------parents want to fly-----if both are on the same airplane and the plane goes down, the children have lost both parents. If both are not on the same plane and one plane crashes with one parent on it but not the other-------the children then have at least one parent still living. This is how our family always flew-----to assure that there would always be a mother or father alive in case of such a disaster to raise the children.

The analogy here is that in similar fashion----the President of the United States and the Vice President of the United States should not be together at the same place in times of terrorism and war. This assures that the leadership chain of the government remains in tact.
