I don't respond to comments such as "bullpucky." If that was intended to be endearing, it failed. 1. "They" (Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia etc) control the majority of the world's CHEAP oil. If all of these countries banded together under an unfriendly regime, they would be powerful enough to cause massive disruptions to the world economy. Do you not agree that the ability to create a worldwide depression with the flick of a switch is a threat to national security? 2. -I do not label myself as a conservative, but as Wharton-educated, former investment banker and LBO executive, I'd bet my understanding of finance and economics is significantly in excess of yours. -No matter how much we practiced conservation, the ability of one unified power to double or triple the price of oil on a whim could tank the entire global economic infrastructure. -Invasions did not lead to 9/11. I never commented on the "fairness" of invading Iraq. It is possible that a unified middle east would tread carefully enough to avoid armed conflict with the western world. 3. No sh*t. That's brilliant. You should write slogans for a living. 4. I'm all for solar and other alternative energy sources. However, I don't believe that we will have a commercially viable country-wide solution to our oil dependence in less than 30 years. I love how you took my post and made assumptions about my stances on issues I never commented on. You truly have a gifted sense for argument.
