The Water

The peril of belief is a recurring theme in all stories of cyberdeath and I do not think that Jack ever thought that he would end up in the coffin of his own obstinance. I am not sure he ever gets it, if he ever realized that his death was assured, because he was a true believer rather than just a believer. Jack could have made some money, not a lot of money but some, by buying GUMM, he mentioned his "in" price so I know he didn't make a fortune. Maybe Jack cashed out on the "zinc in your nose" craze, but the profile that is left behind on SI makes me thinks that Jack went the same way as his waterlogged investment in AQCI and he never got out of the water when he had the chance. You can actually do very little work to find out that Jack's favourite pick, AQCI, is now on the Pinks and offers equipment for retrieving waterlogged logs. Contrast this with the OTC:BB that announced they were cutting up and selling the logs, apparently the waterlogged logs are still under water, imagine that, waterlogs.
Perhaps this company was selling "belief" in the "idea" of the waterlogged logs.
The difference between the market of two years ago and today's market is becoming much clearer. There is NO excuse today to stand on the on the deck of ANY sinking ship, regardless of the name on the stern or the comforts offered, no need to become waterlogged. There is no security in size, in history, in industry and most of all in belief.
