Yes, we were lied into war. Of course. How else could a nation be persuaded to launch aggressive war? The people have to be convinced they are under attack. 9-11 provided the atmosphere in which public anger could be directed by a propaganda campaign at any target, related or not. As Rumsfeld put it, "There aren't any good targets in Afghanistan and there are lots of good targets in Iraq."

Even today, most ordinary Americans believe the Iraq war was a retaliation for 9-11. How did they get that completely wrong idea? Partly because of what Bush et al said, and partly by inference (what else could the Iraq war be? a lark?)

The biggest lie of all is when Bush said he didn't want war. His whole staff had been campaigning for war with Iraq for years.

Anyway, books have been and will be written on this subject. It's too big to settle in a few posts.
