well, at this point I am against Anwar development. A right wing neighbor of mine loudly proclaimed she was ready to drill in Anwar starting in 04 if Bush wins. She drives a Hummer, subsidized by Bush tax cuts which encourage gas guzzling. I don't support destroying natural resources for this gluttony. If we as a nation want to get on the train with conservation, encouraging hybrids for example instead of 10,000 pound vehicles then people like me would convert to Anwar drilling support. But not now.

I don't care if gas reaches $5/barrel. It is obvious the promotion of excess usage of oil and gas is part of this administrations agenda.

I have no objection to developing Anwar. I've read it's development would only supply a tiny fraction of our needs, and would in no way end our dependence on foreign oil. What if we need some oil in say, 50 years? Then our Anwar oil might be worth much more than it is today, and our extraction techniques that much more advanced and enviornment friendly.

I think the reason is a full third of our country worships mother earth, the environment, the planets, the creation in general. They claim to be atheists, agnostics etc. but they aren't really.
