Did you READ the articles Jewell? You said you didn't read the blather you're posting from the PGWB thread, and insist you're not a Bush supporter - I think you're just a quarrellsome bi*** and a liar.

Hi Jewel,

I've just read through the thread and I'm not quite sure what you're asking of the posters here. Are you asking those who support Kerry to convince you to vote for him? Because if you are, I think Kerry's campaign website would be better able to help you, as it would any person with honest questions about Kerry's political stances on the issues.

I was under the impression that this is a place to discuss Kerry and for Kerry supporters to have a place to meet.

I'm sure Chinu will correct me if I'm wrong.

how about this.

Bush chose incompetant fiscal leadership to lead our country. Kerry has basically selected the old Clinton team.

Have you ever looked into John Snow's background? He was an **average** railroad executive from the 70s. Is this the best we can do? Did Bush try to get the best person he could find in the important slot of US treasury secretary? Hard to believe that John Snow's credentials were all that was available.

Compare John Snow to Bob Rubin. When it looked like the stock market might crash, Rubin made a phone call!!! There were countless economic calamaties in the 90s that people barely remember because the clinton team was just that good.

This team of snow, chao and evans couldn't negotiate themselves out of a paper bag. Even Jim Cramer thinks they are a bunch of dufuses.

As a manager, if I hire a bunch of idiots, I get dinged on my review. Is Bush responsible for choosing a bunch of losers to manage our fiscal health? I think so.

Here is one issue - Healthcare:

Kerry Wrote Legislation to Extend Health Insurance to Needy Children; Voted for Additional Funding to Expand the Program. In 1996, Kerry wrote the "Healthy Children, Family Assistance Health Insurance Program" to allow "families who do not qualify for Medicaid, but who are financially unable to purchase private insurance, to be given government subsidies to purchase private coverage for their children. 'This is a serious effort to stop the political bickering and help the millions of children without health insurance lead better and healthier lives, and give their parents the peace of mind they deserve,' Kerry said." (American Health Line, 6/21/96)

Kerry Authored the HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Assistance Legislation. John Kerry wrote the Aids Assistance legislation to help establish a comprehensive, integrated, five year strategy to combat the global spread of HIV and AIDS. It also significantly increases the funding for HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria prevention and treatment programs. 'The Kerry-Frist bill is a huge step forward," said Senator Frist. "It further validates U.S. leadership in the global effort to end devastation many countries face in the fight against HIV/AIDS'." (Office of Senator Bill Frist, press release 7/12/02)

Kerry's 'Nurse Reinvestment Act' Will Help End America's Nursing Shortage. John Kerry is the author of the "Nurse Reinvestment Act" which will help end the nursing shortage in the United States and is threatening our health care system. Kerry's legislation provides scholarships for nursing students, establishes training grants for nurses, offers grants to nursing schools for loan programs, institutes career ladder programs, creates a nurse retention and patient safety enhancement grant, and provides for a public service announcement campaign to promote the nursing profession. Dr. Charles H. Roadman II, Pres. of the American Health Care Association said Kerry was "deserving of praise" for his work to pass the bill. (CQ Weekly, 4/24/03; 107th Congress, S. 706; Oncology Nursing Soc. website: ONS Supported Legis. 107th Congress; US Newswire 4/6/01; Wash Times, Letters, 7/28/02)

Kerry is Working for Better Health Care for Veterans & Retirees. John Kerry has a long history of supporting better veterans' health and he has worked in the Senate to increase spending on veteran health care. In 2001, Kerry voted to increase funding for veterans health care by $1.7 billion. In 1999, Kerry also voted to increase medical care for Veterans Health Administration and to give another $1.3 billion for overall veterans' health care. Kerry is continuing to work for veterans and, "in calling for greater access to health care for veterans, cited estimates of nearly 235,000 veterans on a waiting list for Veterans Administration services, with tens of thousands waiting to access their prescription drug benefit. Kerry is sponsoring legislation that would permit veterans already on the waiting list to fill a prescription written by a private physician at a VA hospital." Kerry repeated his commitment to veterans' health recently during a trip to Iowa: "Co-founder of the Vietnam Veterans of America and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Kerry made frequent reference to his war service. Thousands of veterans are now being denied promised health care benefits, he said. "I'm particularly sensitive that we keep faith with those who have worn the uniform of their country." (Senate Roll Call Vote 1999, No. 285, No. 286; 2001, No. 84; AP 5/30/03; The Hawk Eye, 6/1/03)

Clinton Commended Kerry's Commitment to Children's Health, Preserving Medicaid. "I commend you for introducing your proposal to provide affordable health care for some of the most vulnerable citizens in our nation -- our children. The plan you are releasing today illustrates your commitment to expanding access to health care. This proposal helps redirect the nation's attention to the need for expansion of health care coverage and will surely be well received by parents and child advocates throughout the nation. I also applaud your ongoing commitment to preserve and strengthen Medicaid. Your leadership has been instrumental in our efforts to oppose legislation that would block grant the Medicaid program and undermine the guarantee of quality benefits for eighteen million children." (Letter from President Clinton to John Kerry, 6/20/96)

Also, Dr. DeLong's analysis of Kerry's healthcare plan.

If you have an issue of interest (Environment, Economics, Energy, Healthcare, etc.), let me know.

Kerry has demonstrated an ability to work across the aisle (McCain on restoring relations with Vietnam, Frist on HIV/AIDS, etc.), he is intelligent and articulate, he was one of the first Senators to refuse special interest money, and on and on. Kerry's record is long and distinguished (20 years in the Senate, Lt. Governor, Prosecutor, Navy Veteran), but I will happily provide you with background on one or two issues.

Otherwise, johnkerry.com is a great site!
