Politicians lie. Both parties. They particularly lie when money is involved.

Sad but true.

That said...I'd like the politicians to make sure that we get our best minds into our colleges and universities. Back during the cold war and the space race we recognized the urgency of a good education system...and it paid off in spades.

Today we are facing another challenge. This time it's going to be an economic challenge, And those countries that are on the cutting edge of technology will be the ones that come out on top. We're well positioned now...but we need to keep our eye on the prize.

It's at least as important as paying Halliburton shooters $200,000 a year to protect the chow line in Iraq.

They also arrange cutbacks to hit YOU the hardest. When faced with a cutback, the first thing they talk about cutting are police and fire protection- -they know that you know those just might save your life or your home.

Actually, schools are very high on the list for first things to cutback. They are a great play on emotions..."Oh we can't cut funding to schools! Think about the children". And it works most of the time.
