<I don't understand why we pull our hair out about not finding WMD. How easy would it be to hide 60 lbs. of HEU? Why would Saddam go through the difficult process of making HEU when the chances are that the could buy a measly 60 lbs. andprobably a lot more in any number of places?>

If our true goal was the elimination of HEU nuclear proliferation threat, we would have given the global securing of all HEU the priority it deserves. What troubles me so deeply is that we have replaced meaningful anti-proliferation efforts with meaningless goals like "liberating" Iraq.

The sources of HEU? Why make your own when so much of it is available for the right price? Why go through all the complex steps necessary to manufacture it when those steps might lead to detection?

Ok, then what's the big deal about the Niger thing? Which did not, by anyone's account, involve HEU? And there are plenty of bad people out there who were under less scrutiny than Saddam and Iraq.
