Did anyone notice how large Mrs. Edwards is? One local commentator remarked that he did not know that Edwards was married to Kirstey Alley. Given our bolemic, thin is best culture, i wonder if her weight will be a negative as it would certainly be if she were an alcoholic or chain smoker or cocaine user. Now that our shrinks have classified obesity as a disease along with other addictions, it seems to me that this may be a problem. Folks might say that the fact Edwards has spent a year running for Pres and now VP, a diet may have been prudent and a lack of one is a character flaw. Clinton and Gore both came in underweight minus the babyfat that has plagued them. This is just a comment Mary. I dont think her obesity should be an issue. Just thinking of how some of our less sophisticated folks might vote. Mike

I didn't watch the Edwards speech last night. Did he go into his "two Americas" riff?

He contradicts his own life story every time he says that. If there are really two Americas, the son of a mill worker could never be a vice-presidential candidate....

I didn't see John Edwards last night. I stay as far away from campaign stuff as I can. I had a old friend call me last night out of the blue to remind me to watch. They're from the same home town and my friend always promotes his famous homeboys. I like Edwards despite his silly two-Americas message. I was rooting for him in the primaries. I may go back and read his speech after the convention, and Clinton's, too, as I heard that both were good.
