clinton's speech was about clinton. pretty much, as usual for him. he still has a very good speaking capability, but the message was how wonderful his administration was. perhaps he is hopeful that kerry will, if elected, govern like him. not a chance there since the kerry-kennedy-edwards liberal machine is nothing like clinton-clinton less-liberal machine imo.

<<<two-Americas message.>>>

The "two-Americas" metaphor resonates with people like me.

Even though I firmly believe that the government should stay out of the lives of people as much as possible, I still need government to protect me from thugs both foreign and domestic.

Similarly, there are always those that can not help themselves. That burden can not be privatized. That would not be fair. That has to be a shared burden.

Finally, only government can level the playing field. It can not and will never be perfectly level. Rank will always have its privileges. Sons and daughters of important people will always have better connections that will allow them to get into the better schools and make a lot of money without having to work as hard as others.

At least give everybody a shot at a decent education and the opportunity for a job that pays a livable wage.

We are not all equally talented, self sufficient, or well connected. Most of us do not even dream of ever owning a ranch. Many of us dream only to make ends meet. Some of us could at times use a helping hand but will settle for a more level playing field.

John Edwards made it on his own, but you can't expect all of us to have his intelligence and his capacity for hard work.

John Edwards knows what it takes. There is nothing that better exemplifies what America is all about than John Edwards.
