I agree with you that Liberalism was founded on the belief in natural law etc. as you describe. I do not believe that human beings are brutes as you say. I see goodness or can find goodness in everyone I meet. HOWEVER, war is another venue... I believe that it has by it's very premise...kill or be killed, brings out the worst in human beings. Look at the stories emanating from the prisons... the guards...who were probably known as decent human beings. Did you see the Last Samauri.. It depicts the kind of army that I should like to see. Of course this is all fantasy, however warriors such as this were supposed to have existed. There was honor above all. See it if you haven't .. Happens to be a very good movie. Nice to know that you did pro bono work for the Court system. Must have been extremely interesting. Oh, I had a theory when I worked .. I have found it to be proven out to me through out my life and always try to remember it. The person who has the most angery...exhibits the most anger is the one who is the most deeply hurt....somewhere in his life. Any comments on experiencing that ?
