Thank heavens there is internet access for you at least occasionally. I had the feeling from Cos's post that he was liking your not being online just a bit too much, although he tried to make it sound as if it was for your own good. The truth outs. He just likes the house clean. Be careful if you find your shoes missing. Because you know what comes along with barefoot in the kitchen.

I love Elinor Lipman and have read all her books. I have been reading Russell Baker's Poor Russell's Almanac. He has a very bizarre mind- there is a funny chapter about the terrible orchestra that lives in the ceiling of the elevator in a little black box, and is conducted by a tiny maestro 3/4 " tall. And one about a man who calls himself at the office while out of town to see how his staff handles calls, only he is put through to himself.
I would so love to spend time in the heads of people who think like that. Take a vacation touring someone else's brain.

Cerebral Cruises
Ganglia-a-GoGo
Gray Matter Tours
Cerebellocity

Also Joanne Harris's Five Quarters of an Orange. (Chocolat, Blackberry Wine, Coastliners)
And a funny little book called All We Need Now is a Title Did you know that Pride and PRejudice's first title was First Impressions? And that the working title for Tess of the D'Urbvervilles was The Body and Soul of Sue?

You sound very healthy and happy, and I can't help but think yours is a much better way to live than reading politics all day and arguing on SI. Still, I very much miss our morning coffee.
Say hello to Duncan for us.
