Gore had more to work with, because Gore is more mainstream, than Kerry and he blew it. Kerry is trying to remake himself, but his history (facts) say something else. He is a hard left liberal.

Yes by actual population the area the was behind PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH had 43 million more people. Those area had a far less turnout than the Urban areas. This time around I expect the intelligent informed people to make much more efforts in those area as hanoi kerry is a scumbag. But if you want a more detailed analysis...
