You know a restaurant that sells "shrimp vindallo, grilled diver sea scallops, prosciutto, wrapped stuffed chicken, and steak salad" lunches for just over $10 each??? Where?? (Maybe if you just had one shrimp, one scallop, 1/2 oz each of ham, chicken and steak salad per lunch).

19 lunches for $200. That's a bit more than $10 per lunch. What extravagance!

Not extravagant, but if they were going to eat at Wendy's why couldn't they just eat at Wendy's and smile for the cameras?

I mean, it's not that big a sacrifice. Part of running is learning to portray the common touch convincingly. JF Kennedy could pull it off, JF Kerry cannot, not even to the extent of naming a favorite Red Sox player who really played for the Red Sox. Of course, Kennedy had charm, which helps a great deal.

I seriously doubt you can get shrimp vindaloo for $10 anywhere.

This isn't the Newburgh Yacht Club, but I imagine it's comparable:

For those of you who donated to the Kerry/Edwards campaign, nineteen lunches at $200 each comes up to almost $4,000, or almost the maximum allowed for two donors to the campaign. The Kerry/Edwards campaign wants to thank those two for their assistance and encourages you to donate to the DNC as soon as possible. Terry McAuliffe wants to eat at Chez Louis for dinner tomorrow, and he needs to know that help is on the way.

I think you missed this part of the article.
