He just wanted Bush to honestly pay for it. I heard Biden explain it better on a Sunday morning program. 67 billion was for the troops - Kerry voted for that. Then Bush lumped in 20 billion for Iraq reconstruction - and Kerry demanded that be paid for, thus voting against the combined bill. Let's not forget, Bush wildly underestimated the cost of this war, which is why he has to continue coming back begging to Congress. His lies had been exposed by then. Let's get somebody in there who can manage money, make plans, who isn't an idealogue.

LIAR! Kerry didn't vote against funding for troops, he voted to account for the 87 billion, make the richest Americans pay for it and for us to get some Iraqi oil revenue in exchange for some of the billions of welfare we are giving to Iraq. As it is now the 87 billion is pure unpaid for debt.

It was a great idea but the Bushies defended their tax cuts for the richest with venom. Now that 87 billion is gone and un-acconted for. Bushies didn't even add it onto theri 445 billion deficit for the year, as if it's play money. But it's not. So the deficit is really 535 billion.

Kerry was also the first to call for better body armor for our troops. So what a bald-faced lie to accuse him of voting against body armor.

Also, that bill did not need to be rushed through. There was plenty of time to debate and make is fiscally responsible. But the Bushies wanted it rushed through, then later used Kerry's vote as "proof" he didn't care about the troops. Hogwash.

Same BS they used against Max Cleland, comparing him to Saddam and Osama for wanting a few items in the Homeland Security Bill (a democratic bill Bush initially opposed) changed. The rightwing has been very-very dishonest and shameless on these issues. Fiscally reckless and simply serving the very rich at the expense of the nation. They've also mismanaged the war so it costs much more than it had to, and we get no Iraqi oil for all the hundreds of billions we're throwing into that country. None at all.

Before the war Sean Hannity promised Iraqi oil would pay us back for everything. He lied big-time.
