Hard to discern when Bush Admin is being political vs sincere. Last week, Bush made a 'political' announcement on the SAME day Kerry spoke, regarding Bush catching a high level terrorist days prior. So, it's truly hard to discern when you can trust Bush is not being political vs issuing a sincere warning. If Bush is abusing the warning system for his own political gains, that would be a hugely dishonest thing to do to this country. With a brother in Washington DC by the Capitol, I'm not happy with Bush's lack of credibility due to perceived politics, because that potentially impacts the safety of loved ones. But did see this, so it's possible the intelligence is current: cnn.com "The White House said the information that prompted Sunday's decision to raise the threat level developed during the past 72 hours." RE: "It involves personal loses wrt to the Korean war, real life good friends. Real people, that loved their life." Don't do my fair share of appreciating people that go to war, namely because I don't believe in wars. But the only charity I donated to in college (when money was super tight) was Disabled American Veterans (DAV), after someone said that Vets never get the appreciation they deserve. RE: "So when I hear Korean folks saying they don't want to pay taxes" Ted is American. Republicans do not believe in taxes. Democrats prefer taxes, but modern day Democrats also want to see people get serious about saving money. I'd like to see a lot of changes in this dimension. For example, I still can't believe Ridge (head of Homeland Security and former Governor of Penn) only has 210k to 800k in networth (which includes his house) at age 58, given his salary level. Maybe he has a disabled child, but if he doesn't, then nothing excuses that. My brother's pay is less than Ridge's and yet my brother's networth is more and he's younger than Ridge. My brother's extreme austerity and life long sacrifices do not need to feed people like Ridge. This should not be confused with those people that truly need the assistance - but a guy making $175k/year that hasn't saved much for his income level, shouldn't become a burden to society due to his irresponsibility. Separate from Fica, the govt needs to create a "10% of your income is forced retirement savings", where this money is put into people's brokerage accounts (like an IRA), not the govt's hands. This doesn't mean Fica goes away, this doesn't mean taxes go away, but it certainly does mean that each individual is responsible for saving money for their retirement. RE: "they don't want a draft" No one would want a draft. But surprisingly, a lot of people in hightech would do what's needed to be done, if a draft occurred. But the govt would definitely need to change the law that makes it illegal to speak ones mind in the military though, otherwise all the hightech draftees would be booted for their individuality of thinking. RE: "Ten suggested that I put him on ignore. Good idea, and it's done. I don't need to continue the conversation." Put him back on, after a week or two. If you guys can't talk, why would you expect the rest of the country to talk with each other? Regards, Amy J
