He won't release them because they are so damaging to him.

First you have to have proof that the records exist.
Second you have to have proof he has custody over them.
Third you have to have proof there is damaging information.

You better fulfill parts one, two and three before inserting foot into mouth.

I researched this a lot. The key records he won't release are his DISCIPLINARY records. These would show how or if he was punished for not showing up, what punishment he recieved or was excused from, and in general if he was treated like everyone else, or "special". Generally, guys who didn't show up for their Guard service were "drafted" into active duty and shipped straight to 'Nam. Even Air Force "administrative assistants". So, you can bet he's hiding the big fix from Poppy.
