Thanks redfish, I already knew that except for the part which says the Guard did it that way to get it into the court system. I knew junior was supposed to be drafted (or at least have his name turned in to his draft board as being eligible for the draft) after he went AWOL. HELP, poppy, HELP.

The only thing that website shows is how screwed up the whole Reserves can be and often are. You can show up for drills and be marked as absent which is very very common. You can do an equivalent drill at the Reserve Center away from your unit and nobody at your unit will ever see you and you still get your drill credit, points and pay. The writer of that website is inconsistent saying in one paragraph that he got special treatment and then later on saying that he couldn't get the transfer he wanted. His obligation went thru May 1974 and he was discharged in Oct 1973. Why? Because the Guard wanted him out of his contract because like I said before, the Guard had no need for a trained pilot who was medically disqualified from flying. They should have discharged him in May 1972 and saved everybody a lot of time and effort.
