My interest is not in denigrating Muslim achievement, but in differentiating it from the Scientific Revolution which transpired in Europe, and in settling the timeline more accurately. The author of the text you quote properly puts these scientists in what we commonly call the Medieval period, where, of course, it is commonly acknowledged that the Muslim world exceeded Christian Europe in scholarship, science, and high culture.
