As I said, Bush had no control over where his F-102 unit was deployed. If Johnson and McNamara wanted to, at any time he could have used Reserve and National Guard troops in Vietnam. Being in the Reserves or National Guard is NEVER a safety point from serving in a combat area. Everybody in the reserves and guard knows this. I knew that in NMCB 23 who are now on their way to Iraq.
