So angell was wrong in suggesting fed loosen up? In your scenario, i dont understand how the fed could loosen more with it not involving rates. I am missing something. mike

Right,

Corporate profits are internally providing the funds required for new investment.

The election noise/Iraq/oil has scared the consumer into a conservative spending (increased savings mode).

Sure not a surprise - the fear that flows through the networks is horrendous - a conservative reaction is to be expected.
