John he points out that if Detroit would produce the vehicles they are able to, we would gain more independence from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq.

But that is not good for Cheney and Bush, as they are beholding to the oil lobbies. Whoa they can't let that happen. It would drive oil prices down.
You know that is true eh?

One benefit from these high oil and gas prices (I am not going to comment if it is manipulated or not) is that more people realize that we must implement a energy program to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

I think this is an ideal that both republican and democrats who care about this country can embrace.

The technologies are already here: battery, solar, ethanol, etc. It is a question of prioritizing and major funding to get the program going.
