I remember it well as I also was in 1st Battalion which was in the barracks along the swamp. The DI's side of the story is they didnt follow his instructions. We had many problems even in my time. A Marine training platoon starts with, I believe it was, 43 troops, in our case we had a couple section 8 discharges, a couple serious illnesses (pneumonia thanks to a DI's antics), and I think it was one death. jdn
