ok.. that was a bit obscure.

if you meant that all of the the repercussions of his life should be credited to him, i might argue otherwise. if someone dies without doing anything spectacular (hypothetically speaking), and great men who come later decide to lionize and embellish that person's life and teachings, and then to elevate that person to the status of a god, then, imho, the credit is due to those who came later.
