Those high cost OECD suppliers are making a LOT of money when the price of oil is wayyyyy up. The Arabs AND the Texans [and North Sea and North Slope and coal producers and nuclear power suppliers] are making big heap profit now. That's why the Saudis and the Bushes are such great buddies. They are in the same club. The SUV drivers don't get it. They think King George II is on their side. No he's not. He's for the haves and have mores = what he calls his base. Saddam on the other hand was a competitor whose oil they could keep off the market by mumbling about weapons of mass destruction and how awful it is that he's a dictator. Keeping a major competitor out of a market is what a LOT of companies would like to do. Osama, being a Saudi and a bin Laden, would like to get his hands on all the Saudi oil by displacing the house of Saud, which means breaking the link between the USA and the Saudis. The Twin Towers and other attacks are a family feud, with some Islamic Jihad stirred in, some Holy Lands hatred fueling the passions and good old tribalistic warfare being the rules where the alpha male gets the crown, the money and the girls. It's an unedifying sight. It's funny to see the bin Ladens being treated like royalty by the Americans. Osama isn't as black a sheep of the family as is made out. Blood is thicker than water. How much help have the bin Ladens and Saudis been in ending Islamic Jihad? Bandar Bush and King George II are as thick as thieves. There's something rotten in the state of Denmark. Meanwhile, the money's gushing down the pipeline. Halliburton's profits, BP's, Bush's and Saudis is all hunky dory and things are A-OK. This will of course lead to alternative products being used, including insulation, so oil will lose market share as a result of the spike and Russia will gain market share over Saudi Arabia, so it's not all great in a few years. Once the gas line is built from Russia, it won't turn off because oil prices crash. Saudis and Texas will have a slump. Then it will be time to turn off Iran's oil to jack the price up again. Japan is already being told to check out Libya's supplies. Too far away! Mqurice
