c2, Many medals have been given to people who did not deserve them, or earn them. Deception is common in the medal business, but not rampant.

Seems to me that the Swifties are putting more weight on the Purple Hearts and how he gamed the system to get 3 of them so he could escape combate after 4 months. it seems highly unlikely that anyone who is as unfit as Kerry is alleged to be would be awarded a Silver Star under any circumstances, unless Silver Stars were being awarded like whistles in a Cap'n Crunch cereal box.

Unless the Kerry campaign manages to smother or discredit all the Swifties (still likely), the most damaging revelation is going to be the low opinion that most of his fellow soldiers held of him. I don't know if medals really count for so much among most civilians, they don't know one from the other.

How Kerry is handling the 11 SBV and the 250+ SBVT TODAY is the thing to watch. Has he provided proof for his statements to the 1971 Senate accusations? Will he today? Did Kerry send the DNC and his own campaign lawyers out to squash 250+ Decorated Vets from their right to free speech? Did Kerry try to stop those same lawyers from doing that? Was he successful? Did Kerry discuss any other qualifications he would have to bring to the Presidency....other than his 35 year ago 4 month Military career? We're all ears, Senator Kerry....WHERE ARE YOU?
