That may be less than honorable, but it's also very clever, just the sort of analytical problem solving that is appreciated in Washington. Ollie North, take a lesson... <g>

Seriously, people did a lot of different things in those days, things that fell somewhere on the continuum from honorable to dishonorable and the other continuum from smart to stupid. On the honor continuum, it was closer to honorable than most other common options. On the intelligence continuum, it was risky but definitely not stupid.

What's your source for this claim?

I don't think that is necessarily the case. True, one of the chapters of the book that was pre-released addresses the Purple Heart issue, but that is but one chapter of the book.

I don't recall John O'Neill focusing on the Purple Heart issue to the exclusion of other issues regarding Kerry's service when he appeared last night on Fox and MSNBC.
