<Ugly market today but where are the volatility indices? They aren't even as high as they were on Monday:>

Don't you need difference of opinion to exist in order to have volatility high?

Computer programs flipping shares based on the near same group think formulas don't exhibit differences of opinion.

Rts, thanks. The 48.4% bulls vs 24.2% bears sure isn't good. Well, I might buy QCOM for the short term, but that's about all. Unfortunately [or not] I am easily spooked on these short term buys if they turn against me.

looking at your charts, I am quite surprised the VIX is not higher. If the pros are following the rulebook, there won't be a bounce today, apparently.

EDIT: Why might that (low VIX) be a good thing short term?

The SOX went from 209 to 560 or up 351 pts. We've now retraced almost 200 of those points or over 57%. Forward guidance still is flat to up for most semi companies and these companies are showing awesome bottom line performance versus the past 2+ years.

If we view the run from the March 03 low of 258, we've retraced 200 of the 300 pts of the move up.

Ugly or not, it is amazing that the cash flow and bottom line improvements for these companies are being completely discounted by the market. PEs under 10 for companies hitting on all cylinders.

While I know I'm a bit early, it's still time to consider picking up stock here, imo. I've bought 1500 shares today of one of my micro caps that have been totally destroyed, fwiw. I'm eyeing a few others and I've bought a few companies in this week that have actually seen a rebound in the past 2 days.

I have a greater risk tolerance then many who post their thoughts here but I think it's time to start selectively "going against the grain" with the full understanding that I'm "early to the party".
