Are you really asking, or just wanting to argue this morning? <g>

Are you saying Kerry is a socialist? with integrity?

and are you saying Bush is a conservative? With character flaws?

What I'm trying to do is understand the mental processes of those who apparently do not find this issue and November's vote severable.

I'm not suggesting any of those things you mention. I'm asking those who inextricably link the two what they would do if faced with this problem in a candidate whose policies resonate with them as opposed to one they already didn't like. I'm pressing to see if they can de-link. Or if they can give me a viable explanation of why they are inextricably linked. I have not heard one yet.

It's one thing to say that this makes Kerry unfit when you wouldn't have been caught dead voting for him in the first place. It's a different matter when the candidate whose politics you agree with has the problem. So I'm asking what you would do if faced with that choice. I picked "socialist" because I know you would choke at the prospect of voting for one, that's all.
