From a local message board in PA: Maybe it'll all blow over? fat chance.

Author: Kerry for Dogcatcher 08/11/2004 (16:10)

Kerry showcased his military service as his major qualification for President and trotted out three "brothers" at the Democratic convention to sing his praises. There's nothing wrong with the Swiftboat Vets giving their side of the story. Kerry made it all fair game.
BJ Clinton and all his minions and cabinet members painted Jennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Monica Lewinsky and the other "bimbos" as screwed-up liars. Now we all know who was really telling the truth.

John Kerry could help put questions to bed by authorizing release of all his military records. He won't do it and doesn't give any reason that makes sense. Either he's stupid or he has something to hide. Take your pick.

Kerry's lawyers threaten libel suits, but nobody in their right mind believes the threats. If they actually sued, all the Swiftboat Vets would be called as witnesses and give public testimony under oath. All the military records would come out. All of Kerry's speeches about war crimes and "Christmas in Cambodia" would be on cable news for months or maybe years. The Swiftboat Vets would like nothing better.
