Yeah, well, you see how much coverage it's getting now. Not surprising it didn't get "flushed out" sooner.

Even without the coverage issue, there was no trigger to elevate it during the primaries. After all, Kerry has been an elected official for eons. He never went up against anyone whose supporters would take umbrage over something like this.

An issue like this could easily tilt sufficient currently undecided towards Bush. That's why it matters

I agree that the play is interesting. There may not be enough undecideds left. And those undecideds likely have higher priorities, like war or jobs or health care. And they would have to both hear about the issue and come to believe the charges are true. Lotsa obstacles, but then it could be a close race and may not take many votes to "matter."
