Now Ebola, that's scary. Highly contagious, no cure, no treatment, no vaccine, no public health plan, no nothing.

I disgaree. To the best of my knowledge, Ebola does not spread by airborne transmission. There has to be direct contact with the blood or bodily secretions of an infected person.

All outbreaks of Ebola have been effectively contained in a relatively short time frame.

Smallpox is more highly contagious and has an airborne transmission method.

There is no cure for a nuke on your noggin

The original point is getting lost. I was trying to point out that most folks fear nukes because they understand the threat.

Most do not yet fear bio or chemical only because they do not yet understand the threat.

Though I like fear for several reasons, I am basically in agreement with your theme that fear is not a solution. I think each person should evaluate the threats, decide what he or she can do in the way of self protection and assemble any gear needed, then make an evacuation plan in case it becomes necessary and go back to having a nice day.

Those most likely to panic will be those who are relying on the government to care for them and who have not considered any solutions beforehand.
