Canadians are desperate to differentiate themselves from Americans. They seem to have found it in the idea that they are not such ruffians as we are. Perhaps that is the Tory influence, you know, all of those who didn't have the gumption for independence snuck off to Canada.......

Look, i'll type this really slowly this time, try to comprehend its meaning -

Precious. bloody. few. of. the. Rest. of. Us. out. here. give. a. shit. what. the. french. think.

Or what Bush thinks, after turning on us that yer with us or agin us bit

They're the same, Bush and Chirac, one just has more military power than the other .... Bush also has a veto in the UNSC, i don't see you complaining about that ..... the UN is flawed in its structure, we all agreed on that many moons ago, remember, so your 'be-all-and-end-all' crack is applied quite uselessly here .... a genuine coalition of democracies could have been formed outside of the UN, had Bush not defined cooperation as the Rest of Us shutting up and taking his orders

Sure there are peace-at-any-pricers here, and in Europe ... and in the US as well, btw ... some i find principled, some exceedingly vacuous, in any case i and many canadians, along with a goodly slice of euros [i expect], are not among them ..... many of us can see that this world is going to need quality policing, personally i'd like to see the canadian defense budget doubled at least, and that's just for a start ..... but i absolutely do not want it under the command of a man who says to us, yer with us or yer agin us

There is a very strong pacifist streak in both Canada and Europe, as far as I can tell.

Nah, they aren't better people; they just face fewer temptations, not having a zillion dollar military available for starting optional wars.
