Imagine the arrogance inherent in that alone - one faction in a civil war calling itself the 'patriots' ..... yes, this country was built in large measure by refugees from your glorious rebellion .... had to defend against its invasions since, as well, and quite successfully i might add [as evidenced by the fact we're still here]

The first George of USA, called 'Washington', permitted the complete robbing of the entire family of an old flame of his ..... name of Sally something, she had turned him down when he'd proposed to her

Canadians are desperate to differentiate themselves from Americans

My gut impression whenever I'm in Canada is that "we're not the States, eh" is a kind of nervous tick of speech that crops up in some form about once a minute. But they are very much like the States, with a time lag of 20 or 25 years. Canada always has aspects of a time machine for me.
