I'm saying what I've said. The attacks are meant to discredit Kerry while covering Bush's past. The Republicans are running on a neocon/hawkish platform. They're trying to portray Kerry as weak on leadership, and show Bush as a strong leader. In response, the Kerry campaign is highlighting Kerry's Vietnam service to show that he can lead, bravely, and respond to a crisis. By attacking Kerry's Vietnam record, the Republicans have two goals: neutralize an award-winning vets combat background, and cover Bush as someone who avoided service in Vietnam.

I have more respect for those that went to Canada and risked losing their citizenship, their families and friends than for those who could have their family pull strings for them and keep them out of the war.
