Excellent post Brian!

Your demeanor was outstanding. I hope you get to feeling better and you were (while in China) and still are in my prayers.

Gentlemen and women, forgive my inserting my opinion, but may I ask.... do you believe our Father in heaven uses His Word to mean only one thing all the time to all those who read it?

Hi Brian
Sorry to hear that you are not well.
My daughter is leaving for Africa next week and the malaria medicine is making her feel very sick. Did you have to take any med to go to China?

"RE>>Frankly the onus is on you<<....I think that is a false presumption - if the church is "grounded in truth" then is should be able to prove
their beliefs from scripture alone and not rest in previous
and consistent error as security of correct doctrines:"

It's neither false nor unreasonable to expect those who want to overturn the unanimous testimony of Scripture and History to provide some corroborating evidence to support their claim. Again I return to Polycarp who was an immediate disciple of the apostle John. We have his written testimony that directly contradicts your views. He was there and you have failed to explain how such an event as the return of Christ could have been missed by John and Polycarp. If you truly are sincere as you claim you simply must address this issue, but so far you have only skirted this.

"It's obvious that you have no answer to Col 2:. The weak attempt to use Luke 3:"

The reason that it's weak is that you are trying to change the subject to deflect attention away from the lack of answers to Col 2:.
A Theophany, is certainly sufficient to explain Luke 3: retaining the physical manifestation of the Spirit in the same way God appeared to Abraham even eating with him and letting Abraham wash his feet. Read Gen 18: and tell me the Lord of the universe could not manifest as a physical dove. Meanwhile Colossians goes unanswered.

I am no expert on the Greek language but the source I do have says that "bodily" is indeed an adverb and is a "present indicative active", however that in no way detracts from the meaning of the word. How does the fullness of God dwell in Him? The answer is in the physical body that was resurrected on the third day.

<<<<"Did Jesus rise from the dead with eyes of fire and white hair?....Nothing changed in 20 years - how so?>>>>"

Mixing apples and oranges does not strengthen your case it only makes it look more desperate. Revelation, as Apocalyptic literature is highly figurative and in fact the passage you quote harkens back to the book of Daniel where Christ appears in a similar manner 600 years before Colossians was written. Colossians, OTOH is an epistle which is a letter designed to convey specific truths about doctrine. In this case the truth that Christ is God and that he still has His resurrected body.

<<<"I find that astounding - you use tradition - that is strong -I use scripture - that is weak.>>>"

you aren't using scripture, you're avoiding it. Get a dictionary look up the Greek word for bodily, look at the context of the passage and you will see what is quite clear. 20 to 30 years after the resurrection, Christ still had his body.

Glad to see you are felling better.
