John Kerry did not blame soldiers. He blamed those old people...

Please show me something that indicates Kerry blamed old people (Americans) for cutting off ears and heads, for mutilating the dead, and for raping women on the battlefield.

Everything I've seen indicates he blamed all that on American soldiers.

All soldiers in every army will behave in a similar ways.

Yes, I know you believe that people are not moral agents, but victims of their environments, helpless, without any moral compass. That anybody would rape, torture, mutiliate, rob, murder little children, set old men on fire, given the opportunity.

This is why you are a liberal.

I disagree. I believe that people are moral agents, that atrocities are committed by evil people who are operating outside the normal social constraints that prevent them from doing evil, and that most people do not do these things, even when given the opportunity.

This is why I am a conservative.

Like you, Kerry believes that "everybody does it."

Like me, the SwiftBoat Vets believe that they didn't do it, they never saw it, and Kerry is a scum sucking bottom feeding liar.

The American people will vote their consciences, and I hope they have the opportunity to fully understand what is at stake.

Maybe you are young and sheltered, Mary. Perhaps you have never known any Military men or women. The vast majority of them are men and women of honor. There are a few who are not, and usually, we see them in prison or the brig.

I challenge you to go to your local Vet's hospital. You will meet men and women of honor, and meeting them may disabuse you of some of your preconceived ideas of 'soldiers'.

They certainly weren't all like Kerry. No matter their politics.

If you weren't alive or were very young during the Vietnam War (it was called a conflict then....that killed 55,000+ of our soldiers --who were not funded enough to win, and not funded by a totally Democratic House and Senate, as well as a Democratic Presidency--JFK and LBJ)....

....anyhow, go to your nearest library, and gather Time, Newsweek and US News and World Report for the years 1968 and then 1971........ I think you will find it an interesting exercise, and will increase your knowledge of the time.

>>That is why the military likes them young - 19 years of age - preferably. They will do what they are trained to do and not ask too many questions.<<

Actually youth is desirable in combat for the same reason there are so many traffic accidents caused by teenage drivers--they assume they are invincible.

Islamic terrorist recruitment teams have the same criteria for their new sign ups, however, the way their youthful warriors are used makes all the moral difference in the world.
