I think I am a fan of "almost unmoderated threads". I have a moderated thread but I've never kicked anyone out. The "moderated" part is just in case its really needed...

The admins already have that ability, but have to jump through a couple of hoops to make it happen. Use of it (typically on non-moderated or moderated-in-absentia) is for when someone is being intentionally disruptive by posting spam, excessive off-topic posts, or personal attacks.
