CJ, one thing I've noticed is how Kerry's story is changing. "Christmas in Cambodia," the event that was supposedly "seared -- seared" in his memory is now turning into January or whenever. And regarding the Rassman "no man left behind" story that Kerry told at the convention, it is no longer valid now that Kerry admits his boat was the only one to flee the scene.

Also consider that Kerry is running away from his own anti-war activities instead of holding them up as a badge of honor for his liberal base of support. He's pulled all of the copies of his book "The New Soldier" with that upside-down flag on the cover. (It's now a rare collector's item on eBay.) Let's not forget the medals he pretended to throw over the fence at Capitol Hill, only to bring them back all shiny and new for political purposes.

Meanwhile, John O'Neill has been rather consistent in his story throughout the ordeal. Sure, some of his fellow Swifties might have praised Kerry in the past, but I surmise that was before Kerry started overusing his own Vietnam service for political gain. Plus I can't think of how these guys could ever be paid hacks for the Bush campaign. That would be beyond low. Thus, I have to give the benefit of the doubt to the Swifties.

Now personally, I wouldn't have had a beef with Kerry even if it can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt that he lied to get his medals, or that he tried to get out of service on superficial wounds. Regarding the medals, I heard they were given out like candy back then. And as for the quick exit, I can't say I wouldn't have done the same had I been in Kerry's shoes. But for Kerry to misrepresent his own service in Vietnam like he is now, I think that's enough of an invitation for his political opponents like O'Neill to come after him.

Dole is right. Kerry was warned, and now he deserves all of the tweaking he's getting right now.

What little objective proof there is, contradicts what the swift boat veterans claim.

It doesn't seem like that to me.

But I also don't think their claims are proven. I think the jury is still out on this one.

I still am not sure how he managed to put bullet holes in that one swift boat, after the fact.

These are bullet holes in a gun turret on the boat. The SBVs have been clearly explained, and the facts clearly support their explanation. The previous day the boat was hit by machinegun fire, and the gunner in the turret was injurred in the fire. So, the bullet holes had appeared the DAY BEFORE. Their story is totally credible from what I've seen of it.
