There is always the Weimar Republic's solution. You just inflate your way out of it...

Of course, that can be tricky to pull off. It didn't work out too well for them. But, you know, it should have worked.

I didn't say it wouldn't come from higher taxes, I just said that was not the only alternative. Federal revenue grows even when tax rates do not, and also reduced spending or even a reduction in the rate of spending growth will save money. Unfortunately I think spending is likely to grow strongly under either Bush or Kerry.
