Do smokers save the rest money, on the average? Yes I agree. On the other hand there is a monstrous injustice committed when they breathe out second hand smoke. Some victims of cancer who never smoke will die because of breathing second hand smoke. I think society should penalize smokers who smoke around nonsmokers, regardless of the setting. We can use tobacco policy as one measure of the wisdom of a government.
Obese people are simpler; they simply kill themselves. Maybe they also save the rest of us money on the average.

Obesity cripples. Ask an orthopedist. To bear all that overweight destroys the joint of your knees and the gordo needs expensive health care. They don't just die out like the smokers.

Besides that smoke is a nuisance. Disturbs people, while a dozen gordos around you do not bother, i.e., unless you're seated on a plane.
