Michael: That is one of the most cogent statements I have seen for a while. The big tent next week is the Republicans best chance to pull back some swing states. For many people, there are things to like and dislike about both parties, and most political philosophies. Somehow the republicans need to remind people that they have historically stood for certain principles which are not, per se, objectionable to anyone.....fiscal responsibility, economic growth, etc. With both houses of congress and the executive in charge of the pursestrings, the lack of spending restraint is really sad to see for many who would like to embrace what they thought the republicans stood for on fiscal matters (if nothing else).
