Thurlow lied about coming under enemy fire, according to his own Bronze Star award and the fact that his boat had bullet holes in it and the Navy claimed 1 Vietcong killed and 5 wounded in the action. If he did, so did the other 7 vets who were on the boats and cofirmed his story. The KIA and WIA and the bullet holes were from the previous action. Nobody died in THAT canal.

1. Gardner was not present for any of Kerry's heroics. He didn't like his CO. Big whoop! It was certainly a big whoop to the DNC when were claiming (falsely) that everybody on Kerry's own boat supported him. Gardner was there for two months, that covers some of Kerry's supposed heroics. Considering that men in the same unit in combat usually form close bonds, I do consider it a big whoop that most of Kerry's "band of brothers" don't like him enough to call him unfit for duty. If it was just one or two, I could dismiss them as publicity seekers, but I don't think all these men can be Republican liars. 2. O'Neill lied about his co-author, his work for Nixon dirty tricksters, his being a protege of ex-convict Chuck Colson, his giving of money to the Republicrooks, the funding of the Swift Liars, his clerking with Rehnquist, Kerry filling out the after action reports and pretty much everything he has said so far Please show the evidence that O'Neill lied about anything, with specifics, please Yes, I know that the mainstream press is trying very very hard to find something they can present as a lie, and yelling "GOTCHA! GOTCHA!" whenever they do, but examination of the evidence does not show it to be a lie. At most some points may be under sincere dispute between eyewitnesses, as always happens. O'Neill, by his own admission has voted for and given money to, both Republicans and Democrats. When he met Nixon, he admitted that he had voted for Humphrey. He was furious about Kerry's 1971 testimony, debated him then, then took no active part in politics until it looked like Kerry would be the nominee. Common sense would tell you that he is not a right wing hit man; he just doesn't like John Kerry. 3. You cannot refute that charge by citing the citation. Thurlow and all the guys on his boat say that there was no enemy fire. This is a point under dispute between the eyewitnesses, with the preponderence of eyewitnesses saying there was no enemy fire, and having boats without bullet holes to prove it. Thurlow's boat was damaged in a conflict from the day before, according to his testimony. If there had really been an enemy ambush of five boats in a 75 yard wide canal, all the boats should have been riddled and men wounded. We have the skippers and crew of three of the boats saying, Nope, no enemy fire, no men wounded, no bullet holes. 4. Elliot praised Kerry in 1996 and has since grown senile The charge being made is not that Kerry ran away in battle, but that he glorified himself falsely in the reports. Many of the vets have changed their minds about Kerry as they put their notes together about what had happend. You know, Kerry could put most of these charges to bed if he just followed Bush's example and filed a form 180 to release his records - all of them. Why hasn't he?
