I didn't know you were a vet.
When and where did you serve?

Many of those who served will be voting for Kerry, including myself.

Kerry never testified against the troops.
Depends on what the definition of "testify" is, to misquote one of his heroes. That's right. He just said they they were baby killers and war criminals.

Many of those who served will be voting for Kerry, including myself.
You know what just occurred to me? This is like asking welfare mamas whether the dole should be increased. Something of a vested interest in the answer. The fate of the nation cannot hang on men who soiled their pants when the going got tough.

Orca,

I have not been writing about the whole Swift Boat thing because it seemed to me all along to be a politically motivated attack of suspect credibility. I think Kerry, like all who serve(d) their country, should be commended and thanked for doing so.

I did go to johnkerry.com to read his defense against the Swift Boat accusations (I haven't read the SB book and am not planning on it). I ran across the following excerpt and bolded two statements for you to compare:

There are 13 veterans in the Swift Boat attack ad – none of the 13 ever served with Kerry when he earned his combat medals. Their attacks are simply not true. Two of the veterans attacking him now have praised Kerry in the past – George Elliot said Kerry was “unsurpassed” and Grant Hibbard wrote in a fitness report that Kerry was a “top sailor.”
The Swift Boat Veterans attack John Kerry for his Bronze Star, but offer no proof of their attacks. The Navy documented John Kerry’s heroism and awarded him the Bronze Star.
One attacker, Swift boater Larry Thurlow, won the Bronze Star on the same day Kerry did. Thurlow in their book falsely claimed that they were not under fire. In fact, the Washington Post (8/19/04) reports that Thurlow’s own Bronze star certificate confirms “all units” of the five boat flotilla were under "enemy small arms and automatic weapons fire.” Seems that Thurlow, then and now, was under fire.

What I don't understand is this. The first bolded statement pretty clearly says that "none" of the 13 Swift Boat veterans attacking Kerry "served with Kerry when he won his combat medals." Fair enough.

The second bolded statement goes into some detail about how one of the Swift Boat veterans, Larry Thurlow, won the Bronze Star (a medal) "the same day Kerry did", in the same "five boat flotilla".

johnkerry.com (scroll down to last paragraph of this link).

I'm confused how it is that Thurlow didn't serve with Kerry when Kerry won his medals, yet was in the same flotilla under the same enemy fire when both won their medals. Am I missing something in Kerry's statement on the issue?

Thanks in advance for any clarification you can provide.
