He was unaware of Nixon's secret recordings. Yes, that's why he got trapped in a lie. Either he was in Cambodia or he wasn't. One of his contradictory statements is a lie. "I was in Cambodia, sir. I worked along the border," Notice that O'Neill considers "in Cambodia" to be equivalent to "along the border". Simultaneously, O'Neill considers Kerry to be a liar for making the same equivalence. O'Neill lies routinely. Here, for example, he lies about something that is already on public record: O'Neill, first recruited to go after Kerry by the Nixon administration in 1971, said on CNN's Crossfire on August 12 that "I've had no serious involvement in politics of any kind in over 32 years." O'Neill also denied being a Republican. Yet Federal Election Commission records show O'Neill has contributed $14,650 to political candidates -- all Republicans -- since 1990. Voter registration rolls in Harris County, Texas, show O'Neill is, in fact, a registered Republican who has voted in every Republican primary since 1972. forum.johnkerry.com This is what his statement boils down to: "I was once assigned by the President of the United States to attack John Kerry, but I have no bias when it comes to John Kerry."
