Kerry had a reserve commission to begin with.

Not true.
But don't take me wrong. I am not here to shoot you down. I am being very careful to provide documentation for everything I am saying. Like you I have been there and done that except I was Army.

Kerry enlisted in the US Naval Reserves on 18 Feb 66 for inactive duty. He was not commissioned until Dec 16, 1966.

A commission is an appointment. You do not sign an enlistment contract to accept a commission. Kerry was an enlisted Sailor for 9 months. Look at the links I provided, the info is there.. Those are documents Kerry released.

Kerry joined the US Navy Reserves. His statement that he joined to volunteer for Vietnam is not true.
