Hmmm. So if this other fellow lied at some time in his life, that means that it really doesn't matter if Kerry lied? This is a perfect example of a stupid red herring. The last sentence of the report is quite revealing:

"But French later acknowledged that he was relying on the account of trusted friends when he said Kerry lied about the two Purple Hearts.

Interesting. A reporter who was interested in the truth would investigate to find out whether these "two trusted friends" would corroborate French's story. However, someone who doesn't want to believe French has no motivation to do so. If these same accusations were made about Bush, I have little doubt that the media would have tracked down these "two trusted friends" to get their story. Who are these "two trusted friends"? Are they willing to talk? Come on Mr. journalist, do your job. Get the truth. Be objective here. Could it be that the testimony of these "two trusted friends" would be damaging to your favored candidate, Kerry?
