No matter how much chaos they create, it is every Americans right to protest. That, of course, is absolute crap. There are laws governing the conduct of protestors and they are required to obey them. If they do not, the police are required to arrest them. I'd also like to know why waldo, a foreigner, thinks it his right to dictate to Americans their internal politics and conduct.

Agustus "What I have a problem with is when they get violent or jeopardize other citizens lives." Double standard. American occupiers call peaceful citizens of Iraq "insurgents" or try to paint them as the enemy. I posit that Iraqis have been the object of indiscriminate violence from all sides but it was the Americans that disrupted the status quo which has led to this inferno. I was an anti-war activist and march organizer in California in the '60s and had it not been for violence at Century City the Vietnam War may not have ended as fast as it did. I take a small measure of personal responsibility for the downfall of LBJ as we helped cut his funding from rich Hillbillies (90210) by our huge protest which thanks to police impatience turned very violent. Rich residents of Beverly Hills didn't appreciate their kids being beaten up by the L.A. gestapo motorcycle squads and made it well known to LBJ/dems that he was "out" as a result of the attack on their kids. LBJ soon decided not to go for another term even though his purpose in going to The Century Plaza Hotel was to raise funds. Bush better remember this incident and keep his NY police reigned in because any deaths of major injuries will properly backfire on him. His best advice is let it happen and ride it out. Stress is resisting what is. Vioenece is the ONLY language that Americans understand and thus it appears to be written that there will be violence at the convention. This is no excuse to limit peoples freedom of speech. Believe me, New York will easily survive a couple of days of chaos.
