Sistani is exactly the person who will NOT run for office --not now or ever. As for what we "know", what we "know" is that Sadr has mounted a remarkable political campaign that we have (idiotically) responded to as if it was a military campaign -- and he has repeatedly made fools of us (actually we did that to ourselves, he just invited us into the role). We created a political vacuum in Iraq and tried to fill it with puppets -- anybody who offered to play along is going to have an extremely hard time washing off the smell of their contact with us. Sadr is clean as a whistle with a track record unlike anybody else in Iraq -- he will run as the liberator of Iraq.
